Facial redness is often dismissed as sensitive skin, sun exposure or simply a tendency to blush easily. But persistent redness, flushing, visible blood vessels or acne-like bumps on the cheeks and nose may point to rosacea, a long-term inflammatory skin condition.
Rosacea is diagnosed clinically, and its triggers, such as heat, sun, spicy food or certain skincare products, differ from person to person. With the right diagnosis it can usually be kept well under control through gentle skincare, prescription treatment and, for redness and visible vessels, laser therapy.
